Meter Reading

Each month your meter is read.  Please keep your meter box free of dirt and grass.  Do not park any cars on top of your meter box.

The District bills customers by the unit of water.  One unit of water is equal to one hundred cubic fee (One hundred cubic fee is 748 gallons).  The District meters registers use in cubic feet.

New district meters are highly precise and register water use up to the thousandth of a cubic foot!  When a customer observes their meter the third digit to the left of the decimal equals one billable unit of water.

How to Check Your Meter For Leaks

Customers can look at their meter and observe the real time flow rate of water.  When water is flowing through the meter the meter will cycle through different readings. Flow rate is measured in Gallons Per Minute (GPM).  If no water is being used on your property your flow rate should read 0.00 Gal and have a check mark in the lower left hand corner.

The above meter display shows a meter with no flow.

If a number other than 0.00 Gal is displayed there is water flowing through your meter.  If all water fixtures are turned off you may have a leak. If the check mark in the lower left hand corner is replaced with a faucet icon, your meter has registered continuous water flow for a 24 hour period.

Analog Meters

The District also has analog meters.  The District will be replacing all analog meters by 2030. On the meter face, there is a small triangle known as a “tattle tale.”  When water is flowing through the meter the tattle tale will spin.  If all water fixtures are turned off and it is spinning you may have a leak.
